arizona wind power map
This map explains that Arizona has wind resources consistent with utility-scale wind farms. The larger neighboring areas of good and very good windpower are located in northern and eastern Arizona close to the eastern edge of the Mogollon Rim. Good-to-excellent wind supply are also found on the higher rims and ridge crests all through the state.

A source of clean energy, wind is organized by wind power classes, these are made from average air velocity. These classes range from Class 1 (the lowest) to Class 7 (the peak). On the whole, at 50 meters , wind speed Class 4 or greater can be practical for making wind energy with large turbines. Class 4 and above are considered high-quality resources. Particular locations in the Class 3 regions may perhaps have higher wind power classes at 80 meters than revealed on the 50 meter map because of potential high wind shear. Because of the advances in equipment, some zones in the Class 3 zones may correct for utility-scale wind power development.
