A renewable energy source, airstream is categorized according to wind power classes, these are based on typical air speeds. These classes range from Class 1 (the lowest) to Class 7 (the maximum). On the whole, at 50 meters , windpower Class 4 or greater can be functional for creating wind energy with larger turbines. Class 4 and above are considered high-quality energy supplies. Particular locations in the Class 3 zones can have higher wind power class values at 80 meters than revealed on the 50 meter map due to potential high wind shear. Due to the advances in technologies, some areas in the Class 3 zones may correct for utility-scale wind power company development. The Department of Energy and the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) made a new wind power chart for the state of Delaware. This resource chart shows wind power estimates at 50 meters above ground level and depicts the resource that could be used for utility-scale wind development. Yet to come plans are to offer wind power estimates at 100 feet, which are informative for identifying smaller windpower opportunities. |
