A renewable energy source, airstream is classified according to wind power classes, these are based on typical wind speeds. These classes span from Class 1 (the lowest) to Class 7 (the top). Ordinarily, at 50 meters , wind power Class 4 or higher can be functional for creating wind power with substantial turbines. Class 4 and higher are considered good energy supplies. Specific locations in the Class 3 regions can have greater wind power class values at 80 meters than displayed on the 50 meter map because of possible high wind shear. As a result of the advances in machinery, some zones in the Class 3 regions may appropriate for utility-scale wind power development. The Department of Energy and the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) made a fresh wind power plan for the state of Virginia. This resource diagram displays wind energy estimates at 150 feet above ground level and displays the supply that may perhaps be used for companies in wind power. Coming goals are to present wind power estimates at 100 feet, which are constructive for identifying small windpower generation opportunities. |
