South Dakota Wind Power

South Dakota has wind resources suitable with large scale wind farms. Good and excellent wind supply areas are located all the way through the map. Prominent strong-to-outstanding supply areas are positioned on the hills east of Pierre, the ridges in south-central South Dakota near the Nebraska boundary, and hills near Rapid City. Ridge crest zones in the Black Hills can also have strong wind resource.
